Open Source in Brief
Open source software and solutions are essentially software and solutions that come with access to their source code and functional details, with the users being both allowed and encouraged to make further improvements. Once users have modified the software or solution they can redistribute it as long as they do, in turn, provide access to the source code and functional details.
Open Source vs Free
Open source software and solutions are "free" as in "freedom", but not necessarily as in "given away". You can sell Open Source software and solutions as well as a range of services around it.
